The Del Oro Pool was originally built in 1969. It was built thanks to donations from the community and volunteers who committed their professional time and energy. It has always served both Del Oro High School and the Loomis community. Since its construction, the high school has utilized the pool for physical education classes as part of a curriculum mandated by the State of California and for competitive boys and girls JV and Varsity swim teams. In the late 1990’s boys and girls water polo teams were also started despite a shallow end of only 3 ½ feet. A summer recreational swim team was founded in 1971 called the Loomis Basin Dolphins. The pool is also used in the summer time for community open swim and swim lessons coordinated by the Town of Loomis. Many of the improvements to the facility over the years have been the result of Eagle Scout projects and Del Oro Senior projects.
